Xiaomi has announced HyperOS rollout for global markets announcing the slate of first wave of devices to get the new update. The big news is that the Redmi Note 13 series, which is set to foray into India come January 4, will not be updated to HyperOS anytime soon. It seems a bit strange that the older Redmi Note 12 is eligible and yet, none of the newer Redmi Note 13 series phones have made the cut not even the top-tier Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus.

HyperOS is Xiaomi’s latest take on Android aimed to “unite” all its products from phones to wearables, to even its upcoming connected car under one roof with the idea that all of them should be able to communicate with each other effortlessly while also being able to talk to third-party products. You can think of it as a supercharged MIUI, which by the way will slowly and gradually be phased out to make way for this new “OS”. In a select media briefing recently, Xiaomi representatives told FE Tech Bytes that HyperOS is not just a rehashed MIUI but a complete reimagining of the OS from ground up that has taken several years in the making.

For average users, the most immediate takeaways will be a lighter and faster user experience that will be able to better use system resources, extending longevity of devices so they can stay fluid for a relatively longer period of time. Visually, they can expect a revamped Lock Screen with more customisation options including more granular depth application in wallpapers.

Coming back to the devices roaster, Xiaomi has confirmed the first batch of devices to get HyperOS globally and potential timeline which is pegged for Q1 2024.

Here’s the complete list of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices eligible for the HyperOS update to begin with:

  • Xiaomi 13 Ultra
  • Xiaomi 13 Pro
  • Xiaomi 13
  • Xiaomi 13T Pro
  • Xiaomi 13T
  • Redmi Note 12
  • Redmi Note 12S
  • Xiaomi Pad 6
  • Poco F5

The Xiaomi 14 series marked the official debut of HyperOS though phones under the lineup remain a China-only affair at the time of writing. Watch this space for more updates.
