Sony India has announced two new additions to their Alpha 7C series of compact full-frame interchangeable lens cameras: the Alpha 7C II and Alpha 7CR.
The Alpha 7C II features a full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with approximately 33.0 effective megapixels, combined with the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine. The company flaunts Alpha 7C II’s compactness with its 22% lighter and 45% smaller design than the Alpha 7 IV. This camera offers standard ISO sensitivities ranging from 100 to 51200 for both still images and movies, which can be expanded to ISO 50 to 204800 for still images. This wide ISO range enables high-sensitivity, noise-free shooting.

The Alpha 7CR on the other hand is equipped with a full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, boasting approximately 61.0 effective megapixels and the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine. In terms of size, the Alpha 7CR is approximately 29% lighter and 53% smaller than the Alpha 7R V. The standard ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 32000 for both still images and movies, expandable to ISO 50 to 102400 for still images.
Both cameras are equipped with the same AI-processing unit as Sony’s latest interchangeable lens cameras. They feature Real-time Recognition AF, capable of recognising a wide variety of subjects accurately. This includes the recognition of not only people and animals but also birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes.
The Alpha 7C II and Alpha 7CR support video recording up to 4K60p and Sony’s S-Cinetone colour science for cinematic video. They also feature Active Mode in-body image stabilisation and AI-based Auto Framing for top-notch video performance.
They weigh approximately 514g for the Alpha 7C II and 515g for the Alpha 7CR, ensuring portability without compromising image quality. The cameras are compatible with the smartphone application Creators’ App, allowing easy uploading of videos and still images to the cloud and remote camera operation.
The Alpha 7C II and Alpha 7CR will be available across all Sony Center, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony authorised dealers, e-commerce websites (Amazon and Flipkart), and major electronic stores across India. The Alpha 7C II (Body Only) is priced at Rs 2,14,990, while the Alpha 7C II with the 28-60mm Zoom Lens is priced at Rs 2,43,990. The pricing and availability for the Alpha 7CR will be announced soon.
