YouTube is expanding its reach beyond videos. The video streaming platform is introducing a gaming feature called Playables. These are online games accessible directly within the YouTube mobile and desktop apps. YouTube offers 37 mini games that can be played directly within the app without the needs for downloads. While all this may sound interesting, there’s a catch to this. Playables is not for everyone. The feature is exclusively for YouTube Premium subscribers. This means the normal users cannot access these games.

The games, available in the “Playables” section, range from popular choices like Angry Birds Showdown to arcade games. YouTube is currently testing the feature and it will be available until March 28, 2024, as per YouTube’s notification to Premium members.

YouTube first announced in September that it was testing Playables on YouTube. “We’re starting to test a new experience on YouTube called “Playables”. Playables are games that can be played directly on YouTube on both desktop and mobile devices. If you’re part of this experiment, you’ll see a section on YouTube called “Playables” that will appear alongside other content on the home feed. We’re testing this with a limited number of users to start.  You can view and control your Playables history and saved game progress in YouTube History,” it wrote in a blog post.
