OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite — Design, top specs, features, tentative price, India launch date and more

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is official, sort of. Instead of launching the budget Nord in full on June 18, OnePlus instead gave us a first look at design, revealed a few specs, and announced that the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite will in fact launch on June 24. There was such stone cold silence around it anyway, it didn’t look like OnePlus was launching something. Hopefully, with the launch date out, there will be some more excitement.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is likely to be priced below Rs 20,000. OnePlus has gone the other way round this time. It launched the Lite model before last year but this year, it launched the OnePlus Nord CE 4 before. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite will soon have a competition from Nothing’s CMF sub brand which will release its competing CMF Phone 1 in India on July 8. It will bring the conversation back to software, after a long time. It was about time that budget phones got their due. It remains to be seen if Nothing will retain its clean Android approach on a phone south of Rs 20,000.

But this piece is about OnePlus and the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite in particular. Here’s everything that OnePlus has confirmed about it ahead of July 24 launch:

1. Design: The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite has a flat chassis. Blue seems to be the hero colour as OnePlus is kicking off the marketing campaign with it. There’s nothing out of the ordinary. Just straight lines and sharp corners to look at. The phone has a very close resemblance with the China-exclusive Oppo K12x (many online reports suggest the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite will in fact be based on the Oppo K12x).
2. Display: OnePlus is switching to an AMOLED panel in this generation finally. Good riddance to LCD. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite has a 120Hz AMOLED. The brightness has also increased—up to 2,100 nits, which is always a nice thing to have. The phone is also getting aqua touch like some of the pricier OnePlus phones.
3. Processor: The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite will reportedly come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 which is nothing but a glorified Snapdragon 695. But since this is not confirmed yet, we will have to wait and watch out on this one.
4. Camera: The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite has a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main sensor with OIS. There’s one more camera, likely a 2-megapixel portrait.
5. Battery, charging: The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is powered by a sizeable 5,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging. There is an option for 5W reverse charging as well which is to say you can use the phone as a power bank to charge other devices.
