Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang compares his use of AI to a patient consulting multiple doctors to validate a medical diagnosis. “When you receive an answer from an AI, I wouldn’t just receive it. Usually, what I do is I say, ‘Are you sure this is the best answer you can provide?’” Huang said in an interview on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” that aired on Sunday.
“You know this is no different than getting three opinions. Three doctors’ opinions. I do the same thing. I ask the same question of multiple AIs. And I ask them to compare each other’s notes and then, you know, give me the best of all the answers,” he added.
Huang discussed how he incorporates AI into his routine while responding to a question from Zakaria regarding the potential impact of AI on human thinking abilities.
Zakaria referenced an MIT study that evaluated the effects of using AI tools like ChatGPT to write essays among 54 participants. The research revealed that relying on AI led to a decline in certain cognitive functions.
In his conversation with Zakaria, Huang mentioned that he hadn’t reviewed the MIT study but emphasized that he interacts with AI “every single day” and believes his “mental abilities are actually improving” as a result.
“I’m not exactly sure what people are using it for that would cause you to not have to think, but you have to think,” Huang said.
“When I’m interacting with AI, it’s a questioning system. You’re asking it questions. In order to formulate good questions, you have to be thinking. You have to be analytical. You have to be reasoning yourself,” he added.
