Meta’s Threads has unveiled new updates aimed at improving its media-sharing capabilities. The social media app is bringing a dedicated “media” tab and the ability to tag people in photos in its latest update.
“A few Threads updates rolling out globally: the markup feature lets you easily add your take on someone else’s post (highlighting text is a great way to show what resonates with you), and the ability to tag people in the photos you share. We’re also introducing a “media” tab where others can quickly see all photos and videos you share, a long overdue request from the community,” Adam Mosseri, Instagram head.
The new “markup” feature, allows users to highlight and add their commentary on someone else’s post. User can now also tag people in photos they share, enhancing engagement and interaction.
Instagram has also added new “media” tab enabling users to quickly view all the photos and videos they’ve shared in one place, making it easier for others to browse media content.
This update comes at a time when rival platforms, including X and Bluesky, have introduced similar features, particularly focusing on video content. With this new feature, Threads aims to keep up with the growing demand for video-first social apps, including TikTok, which remains a dominant force despite the recent U.S. government pause on its ban.
