Xiaomi has officially entered the flip phone market with the launch of the Mix Flip, a device that boasts several standout features aimed at setting it apart in an increasingly competitive segment. The Mix Flip is designed to offer a blend of functionality, style, and advanced technology, making it a compelling choice for consumers. It’s safe to say that Xiaomi’s first flip phone makes every other flip phone look dated.
One of the key unique selling points (USP) of the Xiaomi Mix Flip is its large 4.01-inch external display, the largest in its segment (narrowly beating Motorola’s 4-inch Razr 50 Ultra). This screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and an impressive 3,000 nits peak brightness. The panel is protected by Xiaomi’s in-house Dragon Crystal Glass.
The cover screen of the Mix Flip is not just for show; it features a dedicated earpiece and a microphone above the top bezel, allowing users to make calls without unfolding the device. It also supports a full-sized keyboard, smart partitions, full-screen photography, and other intelligent features, providing both aesthetic appeal and practical utility.
Inside, the main screen measures 6.86 inches and matches the secondary display in resolution, refresh rate, and peak brightness. The device includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button for added security. Despite its robust features, the Mix Flip remains lightweight at 192 grams and measures just 15.99mm in thickness when folded.
For photography, the Mix Flip has a Leica-branded dual rear camera setup. This includes a 50MP main OIS sensor and a 50MP floating telephoto unit with 2x zoom. For selfies, the internal screen houses a 32MP camera within a punch-hole cutout. The device also offers a Master Portrait mode and the ability to shoot across four focal lengths.
Under the hood, the Mix Flip is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. To manage heat dissipation, the phone features a 3D vapor cooling chamber. The 4,780mAh battery supports 67W fast charging. The Mix Flip runs on HyperOS-based Android 14.
