Microsoft’s Bing with Chat is set to look different now. The Redmond giant has announced the rebranding of its AI-powered Bing Chat as Copilot. The rebranding is part of a broader effort to simplify Microsoft’s AI product lineup and better position the AI chatbot to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
“We are taking the next step to simplify the user experience and make copilot more accessible to everyone. Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise will now simply become Copilot. It has foundational capabilities, like the ability to answer questions, create content, and reason over data,” said Colette Stallbaumer, general manager of Microsoft 365.

Stallbaumer also highlighted a recent data from the New Work Trend Index that indicates Copilot is proving to be a significant boon for productivity and creativity, as well as time-saving. A substantial 77 percent of individuals who have utilised Copilot express a reluctance to part with it, with 70 percent noting an increase in productivity and 68 percent reporting an enhancement in the quality of their work. Through various experiments conducted, users demonstrated a remarkable 29 percent improvement in overall task completion speed and were able to catch up on missed meetings nearly four times more efficiently.
Microsoft initially positioned itself as a competitor to Google in the AI space. However, it now seems to be shifting its focus towards ChatGPT. This change is reflected in the rebranding of Bing Chat.
