Apple just announced a new Mac Mini. For those unaware, the ‘mini’ is Apple’s most affordable desktop computer. The 2024 refresh features a brand-new design and a new, more powerful M4 silicon under the hood. To cut to the chase, it’s every bit as exciting as rumour mills including a last-minute Amazon slip had pictured it to be. The M4 Mac Mini starts at Rs 59,900 in India and is available to pre-order starting from today itself. General availability is pegged for November 8.
Apple M4 Mac Mini: Specs, features
At just 5×5 inches, the new Mac Mini is half the size of its M2-based predecessor from early 2023, taking up minimal desk space. Despite the compact footprint, advanced thermal architecture and energy-efficient Apple silicon, helps deliver top-tier performance without overheating, Apple says.
The Mac Mini with M4 offers a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and starts with 16GB of unified memory. Apple says it has 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance over the M1-based model. The M4 Pro version further upgrades to a 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, and supports up to 64GB memory, making it twice as powerful for AI workloads and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Connectivity options are plenty and on the front as well as on the back. The M4 Pro Mac Mini includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, two USB 3, HDMI, Gigabit ethernet and support for high-impedance headphones. The M4 version swaps the Thunderbolt 5 with Thunderbolt 4 keeping rest of the ports as is. The M4 version supports up to two 6K displays, while M4 Pro handles up to three 6K displays.

Apple M4 Mac Mini: Price, availability
The M4 Mac Mini starts at Rs 59,900 (Rs 49,900 for education) while the M4 Pro Mac Mini will set you back by Rs 1,49,900 (Rs 1,39,900) at the very least. As expected, you’ll need to buy a screen and peripherals like mouse and keyboard separately. The Magic keyboard is Rs 9,500, Magic keyboard with Touch ID Rs 14,500, Magic keyboard with Touch ID and numeric keypad Rs 17,500, Magic trackpad Rs 12,500, Magic mouse Rs 7,500), and Thunderbolt 5 Pro Cable Rs 6,900.
