In response to competitive pressures from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel has introduced a range of unlimited 5G data booster plans starting at Rs 51. These new offerings are designed to assist customers who feel restricted by their current 1GB/day and 1.5GB/day plans, allowing them to upgrade to unlimited 5G services seamlessly.
Airtel’s unlimited 5G data booster plans are a direct counter to Jio’s true unlimited upgrade. The pricing and benefits mirror those of Jio, with plans available for Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151. These booster packs can be purchased alongside existing plans, providing flexibility for users.
Following a tariff hike on July 3, 2024, Airtel raised the threshold for accessing unlimited 5G data to plans with 2GB/day or more. However, the new unlimited upgrade plans remove this restriction, enabling users on 1GB/day and 1.5GB/day plans to enjoy unlimited 5G.
The Rs 51 plan includes 3GB of 4G data and unlimited 5G, provided the user has a 5G-supported device and resides in an area with Airtel 5G services. The Rs 101 plan offers 6GB of 4G data alongside unlimited 5G, while the Rs 151 plan provides 9GB of 4G data plus unlimited 5G.
Airtel 5G upgrade plan | 4G data | 5G data |
Rs 51 | 3GB | Unlimited |
Rs 101 | 6GB | Unlimited |
Rs 151 | 9GB | Unlimited |
Currently, Jio offers a more affordable entry-level option for unlimited 5G compared to Airtel. Jio’s most affordable prepaid plan with 2GB/day data and unlimited 5G costs Rs 349, while Airtel’s Rs 409 plan includes 2.5GB/day, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day, along with unlimited 5G data.
Airtel’s new booster plans offer a cost-effective solution for users looking to maximise their data usage.
