Apple’s next iPhone is already making waves ahead of its official reveal. Fresh leaks surrounding the iPhone 17 lineup suggest that the upcoming models could come with a record-high price tag. Apple is expected to unveil four new models in its upcoming lineup — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. A major shift this year is the introduction of the all-new iPhone 17 Air, which will take the place of the previously known Plus version in the series. One of the most pressing concerns is whether iPhone prices are set to rise, particularly due to potential tariffs. Former President Donald Trump has stated that Apple would be subject to a 25% import tax on iPhones manufactured outside the United States. Such a move would likely result in higher costs being passed on to buyers. From expected pricing to rumored aesthetics, here’s everything we’ve learned so far about the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro.
iPhone 17 Pro launch date:
Apple typically unveils its new iPhones during the second week of September, usually on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. For reference, the iPhone 16 was introduced on Monday, September 9, 2024; the iPhone 15 debuted on Tuesday, September 5, 2023; the iPhone 14 arrived on Wednesday, September 7, 2022; and the iPhone 13 was revealed on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPhone 17 announcement is expected to happen during the week beginning Monday, September 8. This aligns with Apple’s usual schedule, falling just after the Labor Day holiday in the U.S. While a Monday launch isn’t ruled out, Gurman believes that Tuesday, September 9, or Wednesday, September 10, are more likely options for the keynote event.
iPhone 17 Pro India price:
Several reports indicate that one of the standout factors in the iPhone 17 lineup could be the sharp price increase for the Pro models. In India, the entry-level iPhone 17 is anticipated to be priced at around Rs 79,900. The newly introduced iPhone 17 Air, expected to replace the Plus version, might carry a price tag near Rs 99,900. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro could launch at approximately Rs 1,45,000, with the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max potentially reaching up to Rs 1,64,900.
iPhone 17 Pro design:
Apple is rumored to move away from the titanium frame seen in recent models and bring back an aluminum body for the iPhone 17 Pro series. The upcoming Pro variants may showcase a mixed-material back design—combining aluminum and glass—rather than using a full glass rear panel. This new layout could offer improved strength on the top portion while still supporting wireless charging through the glass-covered lower half. While early leaks hinted at a two-tone aesthetic with a distinct camera module, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests the camera housing will blend seamlessly with the device’s color, similar to the uniform design of the iPhone 16 lineup.
iPhone 17 Pro camera:
Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup is set to bring major camera improvements across the board. All four models are expected to debut with a redesigned 24MP front-facing camera—twice the resolution of the 12MP selfie shooter found in the iPhone 16 series. On the back, the Telephoto lens is rumored to get a major upgrade to 48 megapixels, a big jump from the existing 12MP version. With this change, the iPhone 17 Pro models would be the first to sport a trio of 48MP rear cameras, joining the already upgraded Wide and Ultra Wide sensors. One report suggests the new Telephoto lens may offer 3.5x optical zoom (around 85mm focal length), replacing the current 5x zoom (roughly 120mm) seen on today’s Pro models.
iPhone 17 Pro chipset:
The iPhone 17 Pro lineup is expected to be powered by Apple’s next-gen A19 Pro chip. Built on TSMC’s advanced N3P 3nm process, this new processor is likely to offer modest improvements in both speed and energy efficiency compared to the current A18 Pro chip.
