The iPhone 17 has long been in the rumour belt, promising a set of solid upgrades for consumers. With a new iPhone 17 Air expected to bring back Apple’s affinity to slim and sleek smartphones, the entire lineup could now offer a compelling reason to wait until September 9 (and may another week) until Apple makes them available. The current-gen iPhone 16 will be rendered ‘old’ and ‘previous generation’ and Apple will want you to get it still.
While the iPhone 16 series is currently available at a reasonable price, we’d want you to wait for the new iPhone 17 series and there are two major reasons for that.
First reason: iPhone 17 will come with upgrades
The primary reason to wait is the expected lineup of significant upgrades, which is good for those wanting the latest and greatest. According to industry reports, the iPhone 17 series will bring several new features such as 120Hz refresh rate display for providing a smoother and more fluid visual experience as standard across all the variants.
Additionally, the baseline iPhone 17 is expected to get a larger 6.3-inch screen, a notable increase from the previous generation, while the iPhone 17 Air will offer a slim 5.5mm thick body. The selfie camera on all models is said to get a new 24MP sensor. The new and faster A19 series chipsets will allow for faster performance.
Second reason: The domino effect in pricing
The launch of a new iPhone series typically triggers price cuts for previous generations, such as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15. Furthermore for Indian buyers, the new launch will coincide with the upcoming festive season – a time when retailers and e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon offer tempting deals and promotional offers.
This combination of official price cuts and festive discounts will bring down the price of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 to all-time lower price points. The iPhone 16e is also set to go down in pricing, thus making these handsets much better deal than they currently are.
