The iPhone 17 series is here, and as part of the non-Pro lineup, there are two new models. There’s the regular iPhone 17 bringing the standard set of annual upgrades to most users. The highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air has also debuted alongside as the non-Pro yet premium variant, focusing on extreme slimness. Both the standard models are now more competitive than ever, offering features such as a 120Hz ProMotion display, advanced A19 chips, and more.

iPhone 17: Is this Pro in disguise?
The standard iPhone 17 brings pro-level features to a broader audience. The phone’s 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display now includes ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, promising a smooth and responsive user experience. Since it can go as low as 1Hz, it also gets the Always On Display features.
The iPhone 17 gets a new generation 3nm A19 chip and will come with iOS 26 out of the box. It comes with a familiar camera system, which includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x digital lossless zoom and a new 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera for high-resolution macro and wide-angle shots.
The iPhone 17 will now be available with a starting storage of 256GB and will come in five new colours: black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white, with a starting price of Rs 82,900.
iPhone 17 Air: The only iPhone to buy?
The iPhone 17 Air has been designed as the thinnest iPhone ever made , with Apple claiming a thickness of just 5.6mm – thanks to a new Titanium chassis for retaining strength. The Air features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display, also with ProMotion 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate.
On the inside, it is powered by three Apple-designed chips: the new A19 Pro, the N1 wireless networking chip, and the C1X cellular modem. All these hips promise superior performance with more efficiency. The iPhone 17 Air also introduces an eSIM-only design worldwide, a move that saves internal space to enable its thin and light form factor.
Apple says that the phone’s single 48MP Fusion camera system offers the versatility of four equivalent lenses, and its new Center Stage front camera provides up to 18MP of resolution. The iPhone 17 Air will be available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, with a starting price of Rs 1,19,900.
Both new iPhone models feature the highly durable Ceramic Shield 2 protective layers, providing three times better scratch resistance. They are also equipped with the new Center Stage front camera, which uses AI to expand the field of view for group shots and can record with ultra-stabilized 4K HDR video. The devices are all powered by Apple Intelligence capabilities within iOS 26.
Pre-orders for both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will begin on Friday, September 12, with store availability starting on Friday, September 19.
