India-bound Redmi 13C 5G to come with MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus, same as Realme 11

The India-bound Redmi 13C 5G will have the same chip as the Realme 11 5G, Realme 11X 5G and Realme Narzo 60x 5G, i.e., MediaTek’s Dimensity 6100 Plus. MediaTek bills the 6-nanometre system-on-chip (SoC) for its potential to bring 5G connectivity to the mainstream. It was announced in July and the Realme 11 series (followed by the Narzo 60x) was among the first to make it available commercially.

Since then, we’ve hardly seen the chip in action though rumour has it that it may power a bunch of upcoming phones including the Samsung Galaxy A15. At least, the availability is not as sporadic as the 4-nanometre Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. There was the possibility that the Redmi 13C may be powered by the 4 Gen 2, like the Redmi 12 5G but clearly Xiaomi isn’t up to that yet.

The Dimensity 6100 Plus also brings support for 10-bit 90Hz or 120Hz displays and up to 108-megapixel camera sensors and so it would be interesting to see how Xiaomi stacks up the rest of the Redmi 13C and whether it can use the chip to its full potential. Looking at the Redmi 12 4G and 5G, it would be fair to assume that the Redmi 13C 5G and Redmi 13C 4G (which is also launching alongside on the same day) would share a lot of the specs in order to be competitive, so it doesn’t look like one’s superior over the other. But we’ll see.

The Redmi 13C 5G and Redmi 13C 4G are both launching in India on December 6, 2023. The 4G Redmi 13C is already a go in select markets but speculation is rife that Xiaomi may swap the Helio G85 from the global to a slightly more modern Helio G99 for India. Rest of the specs and design are expected to be standard including a 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with 720p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, and a dual camera setup with a 50-megapixel main and another 2-megapixel secondary sensor.
