Xiaomi has begun deploying its newest HyperOS 3 software update across a wide range of smartphones and tablets from Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco, according to a company executive who confirmed the rollout.

The update expands the availability of Android 16 to more devices in India, reports Gadgets 360. HyperOS 3 was first introduced at Xiaomi’s September 2025 launch event, where the Xiaomi 17 series — including the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max — debuted as the first models to run the new operating system out of the box.

Several existing devices are now lined up to receive the Android 16-based update. Models such as the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi Pad 7, Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi 13, Poco F7, and Poco M7 Pro 5G are expected to get the latest firmware in the coming days. Along with the core Android upgrade, HyperOS 3 adds a range of new system features and refinements across Xiaomi and its sub-brands.

How to check for the update

Users with eligible devices can manually look for the HyperOS 3 update by heading to Settings, scrolling to My Device, tapping the HyperOS banner at the top, and selecting Check for updates. If the new software is available, a Download and Install option will appear. The device may reboot multiple times during the installation process before the update is fully applied.

First announced in September, HyperOS 3 introduces Xiaomi’s new HyperIsland interface element. Similar in concept to Apple’s Dynamic Island, it appears as a pill-shaped bar at the top of the display and shows key alerts at a glance. It also supports live activity indicators on the home screen, including real-time charging status when the phone is connected to power.

In addition, the update brings a new dual-island interface design. This feature allows users to expand, switch between, and manage ongoing apps and tasks directly from the current screen, reducing the need to jump between applications. HyperOS 3 also enables the creation of animated wallpapers and cinematic lock screens generated from static photos, adding a more personalized visual experience.
