WhatsApp is one of the mostly widely used messaging apps today. We share a huge amount of content on this platform on a daily basis. Content includes texts, audios, videos, PDFs and even GIFs. But there are certain things that you might want to hide. Perhaps some secret chats or even some gossip that you don’t want to spill.

Apart from the archive feature you can also hide your chat in another way. Here’s how to use this alternative method.

Tech Tips: How to hide WhatsApp chats

Formed a new secret group! Or planning a surprise party for someone. Here’s how you can hide the surprise without the need to archive it:

·      First open your WhatsApp. If you are using a web version, then you start by logging into the account.

·      Next after logging into your account, select the chat you want to hide.

·      After selecting the chat you will see a three dot icon on the right corner of your screen.

·      Tap on that three dot icon. After that you will see a ‘lock chat’ option.

·      Tap on the ‘lock chat’ option. You will see a pop-up on your screen.

·      The pop-up will show a message. This reads ‘ keep this chat locked and hidden.’

·      Now you just need to click the continue button. Well, well you are all set to lock the selected  chat.

Now your secret messages or chats are locked and no one other than you can access these. Notably these chats can only be accessed through your fingerprint or other form of lock that you have chosen. WhasApp usually offers you a password, PIN and biometric lock system.

Furthermore, please note that you won’t be able to see the content of the notification if anyone (hidden chats) has texted you. You will just be shown that someone has messaged you on WhatsApp. For example, you will see a notification which reads ‘WhatsApp has one new message.’

Other updates

WhatsApp has always been working on developing its security and safety structures. Recently, WhatsApp rolled out an important update in its latest beta version for Android, 2.24.20.28. The update is focused on enhancing your safety and improving how you interact with unknown contacts.

As reported by WABetaInfo, the latest beta update introduces a new feature that can allow you to search links directly on the web. For example, if you get any message with a link claiming to direct you to any authentic platform, you can use this feature to verify the link’s authenticity.
