Google Assistant, the voice-powered assistant by Google finally rolls out on many Android smartphones other than Pixel. The Google Assistant will now be available on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and 7.0 (Nougat). Earlier it was present only in Pixel smartphones, Allo Messaging application, Android Wearables and Google Home. Google is planning to take on Apple and Microsoft, as the Assistant will compete with Siri as well as Cortana. Google Assistant is essentially a feature which enables the user to converse with the phone, especially for providing information including Google searches. Google, meanwhile had also taken on Amazon Alexa because of the smart home assistant. But with the move to remove the exclusivity from Pixel smartphones, Google will garner a huge user base with the Assistant.
There is no need for you to download the Google Assistant as according to the company, it can be used on smartphones with Google Play Services, as soon as it is available. Google wants to be everything in the world of technology, from software to hardware. With its innovations in the field of machine learning and natural language processing in the Google Assistant enables a great conversational interaction between the Assistant and the user. There is also the option of syncing with other Google applications. On smartphones, you will be able to ask for the Google Assistant just by saying ‘Ok, Google’.

However, it is a weird timing for the announcement and rolling out of the Google Assistant. LG G6, which was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. LG had announced the phone to be the first device other than Pixel to get the Google Assistant. But the launch seems to take some time.

At the MWC, Google has set up an Android Global Village where it is letting people try out the Google Assistant on smartphones from Samsung, HTC, Sony and Huawei. Google adding the Assistant to Android smartphones, will make it move closer to its aim of expanding the use of the feature. According to a report in research firm, IDC estimates make up 85 percent of all global smartphones.
This is great news for technology, as Google had brought the Google Now for other devices after it launched for its Nexus smartphones, which took the way forward, for a generation of virtual voice activated assistants.
