After an extended run in cinemas and a lengthy period in digital purchase and rental formats, F1: The Movie is now streaming for free on Apple TV. New users who haven’t signed up before can also take advantage of a seven-day trial.
F1: The Movie’s strong performance
The film’s impact has gone far beyond box-office revenue. Its widespread popularity reportedly encouraged Apple to pursue U.S. streaming rights for Formula 1 itself. In October, Apple and Formula 1 confirmed a five-year deal that will make Apple TV the exclusive home for all F1 races in the United States starting next year.
How to watch F1: The Movie
F1: The Movie can be viewed through the Apple TV app on multiple devices, including iPhone, Android phones, iPad, Mac, Apple TV hardware, PlayStation, Xbox, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and more. It can also be streamed in any browser via tv.apple.com.
To access Apple’s full lineup of original programming—F1 content included—you’ll need an Apple TV subscription. It’s also available through the Apple One bundle, which supports Family Sharing for up to six users.
Box office performance
As reported by Deadline, the movie has climbed to $629 million in worldwide earnings, making it the highest-grossing Apple Original Film so far and the most successful sports film of the year.
Cast and Story
The film centers on seasoned driver Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, as he mentors an up-and-coming racer and navigates the intense pressures of a Formula 1 team. The cast also features Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the project delivers high-speed drama both on and off the track.
