Starlink gains more customers

As reported by TechCrunch, while testifying before a state House Appropriations Committee meeting, she announced the recent achievement. But what does this mean and how can it impact SpaceX? According to Shotwell, SpaceX has gained a million new customers just by the end of May. In October 2020, Starlink had started providing beta service for its products. After that in December 2022 it hit 1 million subscribers. At present the constellation consists of 6,000 satellites. Starlinks service is available to about 100 countries to individuals. It also provides services to large enterprises such as major cruise lines and major airlines.

Currently, Starlinks service generated about $6.6 billion revenue this year itself. This is an increase from about $1.4 billion in just two years, as reported by Quilty  Space. Quilty space os a industry research and consulting firm.

Other updates

Starlink is a central part of SpaceX’s plan to commercialize space. In addition to this, Stralink can also help people to explore space. The company also continued to raise money from investors. In line with this CEO Elon Musk said that for years revenue from the broadband internet service would help fund further development of the massive reusable rocket, Starship.

As reported by TechCrunch Starlink has become the undisputed giant of satellite internet. Since the year Starlink started its service, it has taken increased market share from legacy companies. This includes  big companies such as Viasat and SES. Notably, these companies operate large satellites in a higher geostationary orbit

In other news, Air France will start deploying Starlink-based connectivity from Summer 2025. It is expected that the airline will start rolling out an ultra-high-speed connectivity service. This can provide the users  with a ground-like experience.

Additionally, this new service will be offered completely free of charge in all travel cabins. However,  passengers only need to log into their Flying Blue account to gain access of this ‘ground like experience’.
