If you have considered the process of updating your Aadhaar data cumbersome, this one is for you. The Indian government is set to launch a new, all-in-one e-Aadhaar mobile application designed to streamline the process of dealing personal data. Unlike mAadhaar app, the new e-Aadhaar app will allow updating personal details associated with the Aadhaar identity card.
Under development by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the upcoming app promises to empower users to instantly modify crucial data, including their name, residential address, and date of birth, directly from their smartphones. With such functionality, the idea is to drastically reduce the need for in-person visits to Aadhaar Seva Kendras, or Aadhaar centers.
e-Aadhaar app release date: Expected timeline
According to government officials, the e-Aadhaar mobile app is expected to be rolled out by the end of 2025. The release will make it easy for citizens to deal with their Aadhaar data update process – one which is extremely hectic in the real-world scenario these days.
e-Aadhaar app: Will it be safe and privacy-friendly?
A major feature of the new Aadhaar app will be its reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which combined with facial recognition technology, will ensure secure and seamless digital Aadhaar services. This integration is intended to reduce risks of identity fraud while speeding up the entire verification process.
The new app will restrict the need for in-person visits to enrollment centers primarily for biometric authentication (fingerprint and iris scanning), which is scheduled to begin in November. All other textual and demographic updates will be handled digitally through the app.
e-Aadhaar app to automatically fetch data, simplify paperwork
To simplify the process further and eliminate the hassle of extensive paperwork, the UIDAI plans to integrate the app with various verified government sources to automatically fetch supporting user data.
This means that official documents required for verification, such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, and ration cards, from the Public Distribution System (PDS), will be automatically sourced. Even your electricity bill details will be incorporated within the app to make the process seamless. Think of it as a one-stop shop for all your government paperwork needs.
