AWS reported fresh glitches on Wednesday night with thousands facing issues — mere days after it resolved a massive outage that brought down more than half the internet. The brief crash also coincided with a Microsoft Azure outage that took down key parts of the internet.
Is AWS down?
Users flagged the issue across multiple online platforms during a brief wave of outage reports that the company later denied. Data from tracking site DownDetector indicates that most of the reports were coming from the US-EAST-1 region — the same area hit by technical issues last week.
AWS hosts applications and computer processes for companies around the world, and the disruption on October 20 had knocked workers from London to Tokyo offline. It also halted others from conducting normal everyday tasks like paying hairdressers or changing their airline tickets. The cloud service from Amazon.com powers thousands of websites — including popular apps such as Snapchat and Reddit.
