Apple’s Siri suggests users ask ChatGPT for accurate Super Bowl answers after major failures

Apple’s ongoing updates to Siri haven’t seemed to help its performance with basic tasks, like answering trivia or providing accurate historical data. At one point, it even suggseted user to use ChatGPT to help answer their question.

Apple’s Siri, which has been through numerous updates aimed at improving its accuracy, was seen struggling in a quiz related to Super Bowl. A recent experiment by a user revealed that Siri, when asked about the winners of Super Bowl games, showed only 34% accuracy rate – an outcome that leaves much to be desired from a tool Apple markets as an intelligent assistant.

The user, testing Siri’s capabilities, asked the assistant who won Super Bowls 1 through 60. While the results varied widely, Siri’s responses were often completely wrong, providing winners from the wrong years or even answering with unrelated content. For example, when asked about the winner of Super Bowl XIII, Siri responded with the winner of Super Bowl LII, confusing the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Dallas Cowboys game with a completely different matchup featuring the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite a number of updates intended to improve Siri’s performance, the virtual assistant’s handling of simple historical queries about Super Bowl victories was far from accurate. Even when Siri did provide correct answers, the accuracy often came with strange errors. In one instance, Siri presented the winner of Super Bowl III correctly, but in the next, it wrongly credited the Philadelphia Eagles with multiple victories they didn’t earn, even suggesting they had won 33 Super Bowls.

While Siri sometimes stumbled onto correct answers, such as for Super Bowls IX through XII, the errors seemed to overshadow the correct ones. Most egregiously, the assistant failed to deliver accurate results for up to 15 consecutive Super Bowls, with the most significant blunder being Super Bowl LII, where it mistakenly credited the Eagles with wins in several different decades.

Apple’s ongoing updates to Siri haven’t seemed to help its performance with basic tasks, like answering trivia or providing accurate historical data. At one point, it even suggseted user to use ChatGPT to help answer their question.

Although there were a few instances where Siri got things right, such as Super Bowl LVII, the overall experience was a stark reminder that Apple’s voice assistant has yet to master even simple inquiries. As Siri continues to evolve, users will no doubt hope that the virtual assistant will one day be able to handle basic historical information without tripping over its own programming. For now, however, Siri’s accuracy in answering questions about past Super Bowls remains sadly insufficient leaving fans of the NFL and users alike hoping for future improvements.
