Apple in a highly anticipated move has finally lifted the veil on its long-awaited iPhone Apple Intelligence integration. The company showcased the initial features of its AI assistant during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), offering a glimpse into the future of iPhone interaction.
Hints of Apple’s AI aspirations were first dropped several years ago, with the company steadily investing in machine learning and natural language processing technologies. However, the recent WWDC marked a significant turning point, as Apple provided concrete details about its AI initiatives. The iTech-leader has confirmed that its AI will significantly enhance Siri’s capabilities.
With the AI integration, the virtual assistant is expected to become more intelligent, responsive, and capable of handling complex tasks. This is because the the core of Apple’s AI strategy appears to be centered around enhancing Siri. By infusing Siri with advanced AI capabilities, Apple aims to create a more intelligent and responsive digital companion.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is available exclusively to registered Apple developers who are part of the $99 annual developer program. Additionally, users will need to join a waitlist within Apple’s settings app after updating to gain access to Apple Intelligence.
The preview of Apple Intelligence does not encompass all the features demonstrated at Apple’s annual developers conference in June. The initial preview includes several enhancements such as a new Siri interface that makes the edges of the phone glow, improved Siri capabilities for understanding commands even when the speaker stumbles, and the ability for Siri to address troubleshooting questions about Apple products. Additionally, it offers better photo search and movie creation tools, AI-generated summaries for Mail, Messages, and voicemail transcriptions, and Apple’s new text-generation service, Writing Tools.
However, several features are still forthcoming and will be introduced over the next year. These include image generation, emoji creation, automated photo cleanup, further Siri enhancements like utilising personal information and executing actions within apps, and integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The public release of Apple Intelligence is scheduled for later this year.
