Apple plans to introduce its own foldable iPhones. Rumours suggest that after several other mobile brands, Apple plans to enter the ‘flip-style’ smartphones market.
As reported by The Information, Apple is planning to release a clamshell-style flip phone. The report explains that the company has been developing two folding iPhone prototypes since February.
Apple to introduce foldable iPhones
According to the report, the Cupertino-based tech giant might release its ‘foldable iPhone’ by 2026. The report further added that the idea is its initial stage and will take time to get executed. It is expected to be in the ‘development with suppliers’ stage. Rumors suggest that the device has been given a codename of ‘V68’ by Apple. This might suggest that the work on the proposed feature is ramping up.
After smartphone manufacturers such as OnePlus, Xiaomi and Samsung, among others, Apple is all set to introduce a ‘flip-style’ foldable iPhone named ‘iPhone Flip.’ A few days ago a patent titled “Electronic Devices With Durable Folding Displays,” was released. The patent hinted about Apple’s plan to create a durable and flexible glass display. It further added that Apple aims to make the iPhone’s display thin, bendable and unbreakable.
Speculations suggest that Apple had signed a contract with Samsung for getting supply of Samsung Display screens. However, Apple is yet to announce anything about the ‘iPhone Flip’, officially. We can only wait for the expected time to come for getting our hands on foldable iPhones!

Earlier Ming-Chi Kuo, who is a supply chain analyst, had given hints about Apple’s plan to introduce a foldable MacBook. He explained that Apple was working on a 20.3 inch foldable MacBook and it plans to launch by 2027.
A few days ago, Ice Universe, an Instagram user, claimed that Apple will introduce a “Slim” model positioned above the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This new phone is rumoured to feature a 6.65-inch display, slotting between the Pro and Pro Max in size, and carry a hefty price tag of $1,299, potentially becoming Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet. After the rumors around the launch of a ‘flip-style iPhone’, the foldable iPhone might be the most expensive iPhone.
Furthermore, there are chances that Apple might update iPhones with a mechanical aperture camera, by next year, The Information highlighted. This could mean that you could get pictures similar to the pictures taken by a DSLR. Moreover, you could get a natural-depth-of-field effect blurring the background, eventually enhancing your pictures.
