Apple has officially unveiled a new version of its Vision Pro headset that is powered by the next-generation M5 chip. According to the company the new processor brings significant improvements in processing speed, graphics, and battery life, while maintaining the same premium design and pricing as the original.
M5 Chip
The most important thing of the updated Vision Pro is Apple’s custom M5 chip, designed to deliver faster performance and greater efficiency. The new chip features a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says this upgrade allows the headset to handle more demanding spatial computing tasks while improving battery performance.
The new chip also enables the Vision Pro to render roughly 10 percent more pixels, enhancing visual clarity. Ray tracing and mesh shading capabilities are now up to 50 percent faster, offering smoother and more immersive experiences, particularly in 3D environments and virtual applications, according to a Mac Rumuors report.
Improved Battery and Display
Moreover due to the efficient M5 chip, Apple has extended the Vision Pro’s battery life during video playback from 2.5 hours to 3 hours on a single charge. While the increase may seem normal, it shows improvements in energy management without altering the physical battery size.
Another enhancement is the refresh rate, which has been bumped up from 100Hz to 120Hz. This higher refresh rate is designed to reduce motion blur and improve the fluidity of touches, particularly when using the headset as a Mac display.
Comfort and Accessory Updates
Apple hasn’t changed the physical design of the Vision Pro but is introducing a new Dual Loop Band for better comfort and balance. The band includes a dial for adjustment and uses tungsten to help distribute the weight more evenly on the user’s head.
The updated headset also ships with new accessories, including a 40W power adapter, a USB-C cable, and compatibility with spatial input devices like Logitech’s stylus and Sony’s PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.
Pricing and Availability
The new Vision Pro is priced the same as the previous model which is $3,499 and is available in three storage capacities: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. However pre-orders are now live, with shipments beginning on October 22, 2025, in the U.S. and select international markets.
Apple is also expanding Vision Pro app support to iPads with the upcoming iPadOS 26.1, further integrating the headset into its broader ecosystem.
