Apple has announced that it will be hosting an event on the 25th of March, its first one this year. While Apple usually refrains from explicitly revealing what its event is going to be about, it drops ample hints for us to make the guesswork. This time, it’s a countdown that ends at ‘Showtime’, indicating at the unveiling of the streaming services Apple has been working on for a long time.
The March 25 event is highly likely to be an opportunity for Apple to push its software blanket in its efforts to steer away from the losses incurred by the dismal sale of the latest iPhone models. The company is expected to announce its streaming service that bundles content from big names such as the likes of Lionsgate, Oprah Winfrey Network. However, Apple’s new service may not pack Netflix, HBO, and Hulu at the launch, as per a Bloomberg report.
Apple is trying to get its users a one-stop solution so that they don’t migrate to the respective apps of the content developers. The streaming service will natively comprise TV shows, movies, and other streamable content and will be available on all Apple devices – iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and possibly, the Apple Watch.
That’s not all, Apple is also announcing its News subscription service to let its device owners get access to premium content from leading publishers in their country. Apple News app, which was revamped last year at the WWDC, is set to become rich with more features, however, it is not exactly clear what all publishers will join Apple.
There are also speculations that Apple will announce the sequel to the AirPods – the AirPods 2 – and its highly anticipated AirPower wireless charger that is in the rumour mill for a long time.
