Apple’s 14-, 16-inch MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac with 3-nanometre M3 family of chips will be available at stores and online starting today, November 7, 2023. The new MacBook Pro and iMac supercharged by Cupertino’s fastest homegrown silicon yet were announced a week ago at the company’s virtual event, “Scary Fast”, and went on pre-orders soon after.
The key USP of the new Mac devices, as you can probably tell by now, is the updated silicon. The iMac refresh particularly has been a long time coming. The last version with M1 chip had come out in 2021. On the other hand, the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 have received relatively faster updates. The last versions based on M2 had come out earlier in the year. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with the infamous touch bar has been dropped from the line-up altogether following the announcement.
The new MacBook Pro and iMac belong to the first wave of Apple computers to come rocking its M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. The iMac comes with M3 only while the MacBook Pro comes in a choice of M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max and of course, two screen sizes: 14- and 16-inch.
