We are only hours away from the Apple Let Loose event, an event that promises to end a near 2-year-long hiatus for Apple in releasing new iPads. It’s been a long wait for iPad lovers. The first Apple event of 2024 will see Apple letting loose a bunch of new iPads—per leaks—including one very “pro” iPad and one that’s more light and “airy” on the pocket. Some new Apple accessories may also tag along. Already, we’re getting signs of an “Apple Pencil Pro” so who knows? The Magic Keyboard, too, is set to get an update today at the Apple event 2024.
The Apple Let Loose event is poised to focus entirely on the iPad and iPad accessories, as Apple tries to position the iPad as the ultimate laptop replacement one more time. This time, however, there’s a sense of promise, with rumours swirling around the unveiling of an all-new iPad Pro featuring the Apple M4 silicon. Speculation also hints at the potential integration of AI features, leveraging the unique capabilities of the unannounced M4 chip. Though, comprehensive AI details are still a few days away as Apple is expected to talk more about them at WWDC 2024 on June 10.

The upcoming iPad Pro update could be its most significant update in years. Reports hint at a sleeker design to complement the rumoured Magic Keyboard update, potentially featuring a sturdier build with aluminium construction. Moreover, a landscape orientation shift for the front-facing camera is also on the cards. USB Type-C and 5G connectivity are a given.
While the screen size is expected to remain consistent from previous generations, with 11- and 12.9-inch variants, the transition to OLED panels will mark a notable step up from the previous generation’s mini-LED technology. Among the most anticipated updates is the integration of the M4 chip. Previously rumored to feature the M3 chip, seen inside the recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro releases, the M4 chip should bring a leap forward in processing power and efficiency. By how much, we will know soon enough.
Accompanying the iPad Pro will be the much-awaited 2024 iteration of the iPad Air, which has also remained unchanged since 2022. Rumours point to the introduction of a 12.9-inch variant alongside the standard 10.9-inch model, catering to consumers seeking a larger-screen experience at an affordable price point. Powered by the M2 chip, these iPad Air 2024 models will promise enhanced performance and versatility.
Complementing the iPad Pro and iPad Air updates will be a few revamped accessories, including a new Apple Pencil boasting haptic feedback and an upgraded Magic Keyboard folio reportedly designed to withstand wear and tear and featuring a larger trackpad. These accessories will aim to bolster the iPad’s appeal as a viable laptop replacement option.
