The most awaited Apple’s iOS 18.1 developer preview is here with a new call recording feature. Reportedly, Apple will come with an AI-powered feature that will allow you to record and transcribe phone conversations.
According to MacRumours, the iOS 18.1 with the help of Apple Intelligence will allow users to record and transcribe phone calls. Now you can record your call and get a transcription of it.
Apple to let you record your call
Earlier Apple had already announced the introduction of Apple Intelligence, which it claimed could change its user’s experience. So, how does the new feature work?Given below are the key features of the proposed update:
- With the update, you can tap on the record button in the top left corner after placing a call.
- Everyone on the call is notified that the call is being recorded through an audible message.
- Now with the record button you can record the entire call.
- Once the call is in progress, the audio is recorded and saved to the Notes app.
- Recorded phone calls can be opened from Notes, and you can re-listen to the call, view a full transcript.
- Furthermore, you can get a summary from the transcript without having to re-listen to the entire thing.
Note that there is no confirmation dialogue, so if a person does not want to be recorded, they would need to hang up. It is expected that the summaries will be active across the operating system in iOS 18.1. In addition to this you can essentially select any text on an iPhone to get a summary of it. Moreover, sometimes it can get hard to note down something important during a call. So, with the ‘call record and transcription’ feature, you can easily document your important conversations.
Other updates
As of now Apple Intelligence is limited to the iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer betas, MacRumors explained. However, the software will be available to the public later this fall.
According to sources, Apple has also some up with a better version of Siri. The new updated Siri has the following features:
- You get new Siri UI and features
- You get a new edge lighting animation while using Siri.
- You can now switch between text and voice inputs while conversing with Siri.
- Siri also aims to help you better with your iPhone-related concerns since it has a larger context window about the device.
- Also even if you misspell or fumble words, Siri will be able to understand you and follow the prompts
