According to DownDetector, there was an outage that began on Wednesday and disrupted a wide range of services, including e-commerce sites, social media platforms, business tools, and streaming apps. Thousands of users reported problems accessing services hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The issue seemed to affect several regions, but AWS denied the scale of the problem, saying its systems were running normally and that the reports were inaccurate. “AWS is operating normally and this reporting is incorrect,” the company said. It also advised users to check its official Health Dashboard for the most reliable updates.

Microsoft Azure Outage

The reports of AWS outage came the same day as Microsoft Azure outage which also reportedly suffered widespread technical issues. Users also reported problems accessing Microsoft-related products such as Office 365, Minecraft, and Xbox Live. The disruption affected several regions and interrupted access to many websites and apps that depend on cloud services.

Data from Downdetector showed that users across the world, including over 250 in India, reported difficulties using AWS.

The reports of the latest Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage has come only a week after a similar incident that had already disrupted users and apps depending on the platform. The repeated problems have led to growing concerns about how reliable large cloud systems are for businesses and developers.

What led to Microsoft Azure outage?

The global Azure outage seems to have been resolved for now. According to Microsoft’s Azure status dashboard, there were no active incidents as of Wednesday evening, suggesting that the issue had been fixed.

The outage had wide-ranging effects, causing problems on the website of London’s Heathrow Airport. Alaska Airlines said on X that the issue led to a disruption in their key systems, including their websites, and even passengers reported long lines at the airport terminals.

Microsoft confirmed the outage and said it was caused by an “inadvertent configuration change.”

Customers also experienced difficulties with several major services, including the Starbucks app and the Costco website.
