Ahead of iPhone 17 launch Apple is reportedly preparing to open a new retail store in Bengaluru. The X account @Bangalorereal1, which covers Bangalore real estate updates, has disclosed that a new Apple Store is being developed at the Phoenix Mall of Asia in Bytarayanapura. At present, the iPhone maker operates a pair of flagship stores in India, with one situated in Mumbai and the other in New Delhi.

Apple is said to have secured 8,000 square feet of retail space in Bengaluru. As per leasing documents accessed through real estate analytics company Propstack, Apple India is set to pay Rs 2.09 crore annually in rent for the location, amounting to a monthly rental of Rs 17.4 lakh. In addition to the base rent, Apple will also share 2% of its store revenue with the property owner for the initial three years of the lease, which will increase to 2.5% in the subsequent years.

Apple is expanding its retail footprint across India following an impressive showing in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. During this period, the iPhone emerged as the top-selling smartphone nationwide, highlighting Apple’s increasing influence in a market where its overall presence remains modest.

India has emerged as Apple’s fourth-largest market globally, trailing only the United States, China, and Japan. In 2024, the tech giant shipped an unprecedented 12 million iPhones in the country, marking a 35% surge compared to the previous year. During the final quarter of 2024, Apple secured a spot among India’s top five smartphone vendors for the first time. The company captured a 10% market share, driven primarily by strong consumer interest in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 models.

Since early 2023, Apple has consistently surpassed its own sales milestones in India. Industry experts anticipate this upward trend will persist, with projections indicating that iPhone shipments in the Indian market could climb to between 13 and 14 million units in 2025. This continued double-digit expansion is expected to reinforce Apple’s dominance in the premium segment while solidifying its position among the top five smartphone brands by overall sales volume.
