How to Update Your Aadhaar Address Online

Step 1: Visit the myAadhaar website and sign in using your 12-digit Aadhaar number. Enter the captcha and verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 2: Once logged in, click on the ‘Address Update’ option from the dashboard.

Step 3: On the following screen, choose the ‘Update Aadhaar Online’ option.

Step 4: Review the instructions carefully, then click ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’ to move forward.

Step 5: Select ‘Address’ as the detail you wish to update, then hit ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’ again.

Step 6: Your existing address will appear. Scroll down to input your updated details—fill in the Care of (C/O) field with your father’s or spouse’s name, type in the new address, pick the correct post office, select your proof of address from the dropdown menu under ‘Valid Supporting Document Type’, and upload a scanned copy of the document. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

Step 7: Verify the information entered, then make a payment of Rs 50 (non-refundable) to complete the process.

After successful submission, you’ll receive a Service Request Number (SRN). Make sure to save this number—it can be used later to track the status of your request.

List of Documents Accepted for Aadhaar Address Update

The UIDAI portal has streamlined the process for Aadhaar card holders looking to modify their address details. While over 15 types of documents are recognized, here are some commonly accepted Proof of Address (POA) documents:

Valid passport

Recent bank passbook or post office account statement

Ration card issued by the government

Voter identification card

Disability ID card issued by a competent authority

MGNREGA or NREGS employment card

Latest electricity bill (not exceeding 3 months old), including prepaid statements

Current water bill (issued within the last 3 months)

Active gas connection bill (within 3 months)

Landline telephone, postpaid mobile, or broadband bills (not older than 3 months)

Valid life or health insurance document

Property tax payment receipt (dated within the past year)

Registered sale or gift deed

Unregistered rental or lease agreement

These documents must be clear and legible when uploaded to ensure successful address updates.
