The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is all set to make the Aadhaar update process easier and faster. Starting November 2025, Aadhaar card holders will be able to modify their name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online. Rule 1: Aadhaar updates made easier-Starting November 1

Aadhaar holders can update personal details such as name, address, date of birth, and contact number entirely online. This update process now verifies data through linked government records like PAN or passport, reducing the need for document uploads or in-person visits. However, biometric updates including fingerprints, iris scans, or photographs will still require a visit to an authorized aadhaar seva kendra centre for verification.

Rule 2: New fees for Aadhaar changes

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new fee structure for Aadhaar updates. For changes in demographic details it will cost Rs. 75, while biometric updates will be priced at Rs. 125. Online document updates however remain free until June 14, 2026, after which similar charges will apply. Moreover children aged between 5–7 and 15–17 years are eligible for free biometric updates.

Rule 3: Aadhaar-PAN link becomes compulsory From November 1

Aadhaar and PAN integration becomes mandatory. Individuals must link both documents by December 31, 2025, to prevent deactivation of their PAN from January 1, 2026. Moreover new PAN applicants will also need Aadhaar authentication during registration. Additionally banks and financial institutions have been asked to follow the simplified e-KYC options like OTP, video calls, or in-person Aadhaar confirmation ensuring a faster, paperless, and more transparent identity verification process.

Step-by-Step Process for updating details!

Go to the official Aadhaar portal.

Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP sent to your registered mobile.

Choose “Update Aadhaar” and select the field you wish to modify.

Upload relevant documents, if necessary.

Submit your request and track its progress online.

Once verified, updates will automatically reflect in your Aadhaar profile.

Important Tips

UIDAI has also announced that online Aadhaar updates will remain free until June 14, 2026. Thereofre giving people plenty of time to make corrections without any fee. However, your mobile number must already be linked to Aadhaar for authentication to work.
