24 reasons why Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could be your next smartphone

Call it a Note already!

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra buyer's guide
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a starting price of Rs 1,29,999.

Call it a Note already! For, this new Galaxy S24 Ultra, is probably the most noteworthy piece of equipment that Samsung has ever made. It may be an S phone in name, but in spirit, it’s a Galaxy Note through and through. The big, vivacious exterior, 100 percent free of any curves whatsoever, the S-Pen stylus tucked in, and the best of everything that Samsung can fathom at the time of writing, including new Galaxy AI smarts promising a productivity and communication experience like never before— this ultra phone means business. And business, or rather, power users know, only a Samsung Note can pull off all this, gracefully.

Here are 24 reasons why the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra should be your next smartphone:

  1. It is a Galaxy Note!
  2. It has a flat screen and lots of real estate.
  3. The screen boasts of Corning’s latest Gorilla Armor glass protection and can top 2,600 nits.
  4. It makes no false pretence of being a small phone. It is unapologetically big.
  5. It takes Titanium and uses it to enhance durability, not to become lighter.
  6. It has Qualcomm’s fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and a vapour chamber almost twice as big as the S23 Ultra.
  7. It runs Samsung’s latest OneUI 6.1 with Android 14 and does not skimp down on features (more on this later).
  8. It is guaranteed to get seven years of software updates from Samsung.
  9. It is among the first few devices to use Google’s Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI to power a bunch of cloud-based Generative AI features. And for on-device tasks, it is using Gemini Nano.
  10. And so, native Samsung applications like Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard on it can summarise text for you.
  11. While its Generative Edit feature lets you move and remove objects as well as fill in empty spaces in photos.
  12. It is among the first few devices to support Google’s Circle to Search, a feature that lets you search for anything by simply long-pressing on the home button and drawing a circle around it from anywhere on the screen.
  13. It has Live Translate for audio and text translations during phone calls in real time in 13 languages, Hindi included.
  14. AI on it can set the tonality of your text to make them seem more casual or professional, as well.
  15. The Recorder app on it gives you live transcriptions with speaker labels. And it can translate these transcriptions into another language.
  16. It can convert any video into a slow-mo at the press of a button, also, using AI.
  17. It has a new 50-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto with a 2x wider OIS correction angle replacing the 10-megapixel 10x zoom camera from the S23 Ultra.
  18. It has Super HDR that will show you an HDR preview within the camera app’s viewfinder even before you’ve taken the photo.
  19. It can record 4K @60fps, 4K @120fps, and 8K @30fps videos. It allows you to switch between all the cameras, front and back, while recording 4K @60fps videos in real time.
  20. The battery capacity hasn’t changed, still, the 5,000mAh and 4nm chip combination, packs potential.
  21. Wi-Fi 7 and UWB are useful additions, so is USB Type C Gen USB 3.2 Gen 1 (although Gen 2 would have been nicer).
  22. That last bit means, it supports DeX, a highly underrated Samsung feature that lets you hook your device to a monitor/display and experience a desktop-like environment.
  23. Note speakers never disappoint. By the way, did we tell you, it’s a Galaxy Note?
  24. The pricing has gone up by Rs 5,000 but Samsung is offering benefits worth up to Rs 22,000 including a free storage upgrade (512GB if you pick the 256GB variant) plus a Rs 12,000 upgrade bonus on pre-bookings. So, that lessons the blow a bit.

To be clear, these are all the specs and features and experiences– basically upgrades over the S23 Ultra– that we’re excited to try and test out. Some of them might work, some of them might turn out to be plain gimmicks, but they’re big solid reasons why the new Samsung Galaxy Note S24 Ultra deserves your attention anyway. Whether or not, it is able to live up to them and to what extent, will be known shortly in our full review. So, stay tuned for more.
