Ahead of today’s crucial launch of the INSAT-3DS meteorological satellite onboard the Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV), ISRO Chairman S. Somanath visited the Sri Chengalamma Parameshwari temple in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. Accompanied by other officials, he participated in a short ritual and offered prayers for the mission’s success.

Accompanied by a few officials, Somanath participated in a brief ritual at the temple in Sullurpeta on Saturday morning and offered floral tributes to the deity. Speaking to reporters, Somanath expressed his reverence, stating, “I came here today to seek the blessings of Chengalamma Bhagavati for the success of this mission.”

The tradition of ISRO officials visiting the Sri Chengalamma Parameshwari temple before rocket launches has been upheld for the past 15 years. Somanath has adhered to this tradition on prior occasions, including on the eve of the Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 missions.

The launch of the meteorological satellite, which plays a crucial role in studying weather patterns, climate dynamics, and cyclone tracking, is scheduled for 5:35 pm today.
