Lymphoma Symptoms and Treatment: Former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corp. Osamu Suzuki has passed away at the age of 94 due to lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. The global icon of auto sector died on December 25. He stepped down as the chairman of the brand in 2021 at the age of 91.

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system and immune system. According to the experts, this cancer impacts the lymphatic system which is the body’s disease-fighting network. It includes the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland and bone marrow. The main types of lymphoma are Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

What are the symptoms of lymphoma?

According to Mayo Clinic, signs and symptoms of lymphoma may include:

  • Fever.
  • Night sweats.
  • Fatigue.
  • Itchy skin.
  • Painless swelling of lymph nodes in the belly, neck, armpits or groin.
  • Pain in chest, abdomen or bones.
  • Losing weight without trying.

What are the risk factors of lymphoma?

Some factors can increase the risk of lymphoma. They include:

  • A weakened immune system
  • Family history
  • Specific infections
  • Your age

There is no way to prevent lymphoma, Mayo Clinic revealed.

How lymphoma is treated?

Many types of treatments exist for lymphoma. According to Mayo Clinic, treatments include radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and bone marrow transplant, also called stem cell transplant.

“Sometimes, a combination of treatments is used. The treatment that’s best for you will depend on the kind of lymphoma that you have,” it stated.
