Mpower, an initiative of the Aditya Birla Education Trust, on Thursday launched “Mpower – The Centre” in Delhi today. The Centre was launched by Dr Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson of Aditya Birla Education Trust and Mpower and Dr M Srinivas, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
The launch of the Centre is an important milestone in Mpower’s journey to provide holistic and multidisciplinary mental health care to the residents of Delhi. On this occasion Dr. Neerja Birla also unveiled the “Suicide Prevention Toolkit – HOPE,” a comprehensive and invaluable resource aimed at addressing the complex dimensions of suicide risk.
“Mpower – The Centre in Delhi is a state-of-the-art facility, covering 1900 square feet, located at 44 Ring Road, 2nd floor, Lajpat Nagar III, New Delhi 110024. The Centre is poised to revolutionize mental health care in the capital, equipped with six counselling rooms, a speech therapy room, an occupational therapy room and a team of experienced psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and counsellors,” the company said in a statement.
This survey, though primarily focused on the corporate world, sheds light on the significant stress experienced by Delhiites due to rapid urbanization.
“In launching ‘Mpower – The Centre’ in Delhi, we address a stark reality: half of Delhi’s residents are at risk of poor mental health, burdened by the weight of stress in their lives. The need for holistic mental health care is unmistakable. At Mpower, we are committed to providing comprehensive support under one roof. Our unique offering is more than a facility; it’s a sanctuary where individuals can find healing, where mental health experts converge to address the intricate dimensions of well-being. Today on the occasion of the launch we also unveiled the ‘Suicide Prevention Toolkit – HOPE,’ a resource acutely relevant in a time when suicides can be prevented with the right care and support. Our toolkit guides individuals on offering positive assistance to those in distress, equipping them with the knowledge they need in critical moments,” Dr. Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson, Mpower, said in a statement.
She Further Added “Our mission is clear: we want everyone to access mental health care without stigma. Mental health is as vital as physical health. With ‘Mpower – The Centre’ and the ‘Suicide Prevention Toolkit – HOPE,’ we take significant strides toward this vision. Let us break barriers, foster understanding, and provide hope to those who need it most.”
“As we inaugurate the Mpower Delhi Centre and unveil the Suicide Prevention Toolkit today, it symbolizes a pivotal shift in our approach to mental health. Just as we prioritize physical health, we must give equal importance to our mental well-being. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. The Suicide Prevention Toolkit, revealed today, is a beacon of hope. It equips us with the knowledge and resources to recognize signs of distress and support those in need. It underscores that mental health is not a niche concern but a universal issue that touches all of us. Let us together create a Delhi where mental health is openly discussed, understood, and embraced for a healthier and happier city,” Dr M Srinivas , Director AIIMS Delhi said in a statement.
According to a press statement, the Centre will address the mental health needs of Delhiites in a safe and secured environment.
“The decision to establish Mpower in Delhi is a strategic response to the pressing mental health challenges faced by its residents. “Mpower Mental Health at Workplace Survey 2023″ conducted by Mpower in 8 cities including Delhi revealed that 48% of Delhi residents are at risk of mental health illnesses, stressing on the urgency of addressing these concerns,” it added.
