Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison surpassed Elon Musk as the world’s richest man with his net worth jumping to $393bn, compared to Musk’s $384bn. Known for his lavish lifestyle, luxury assets, mega-yachts, and private jets, Ellison also has a long list of wives, with his shortest marriage lasting for just a year.
The 81-year-old has been married five times, and the longest he has been married his seven years. After multiple heartbreaks, Ellison got married to his current wife, Jolin Zhu, 33, a Chinese native, recently. She is around 47 years younger to him and her real name Zhu Keren, according to South China Morning Post. It’s not clear when exactly they got married.
Zhu has been spotted with Ellison multiple times since 2018 according to Wall Street Journal, but it was last year in November when the University of Michigan’s booster group – Champions Circle, accidentally revealed Ellison’s marital status.
Zhu according to SCMP comes from a wealthy background and holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of Michigan. She also studied at Northeast Yucai Foreign Language School, in northeastern China’s Liaoning province, during her junior secondary school years, according to the Chinese publication.
While it’s not known how Ellison met his current wife, but according to SCMP report, she briefly lived in a rented flat in Redwood Shores, where Oracle was based before 2020, post her graduation. She also went to Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Massachusetts, which was out of reach for many of her classmates as per the Chinese publication, and indicated her family’s wealth.
Larry Ellison’s tumultuous love life
Adda Quinn
Ellison’s first marriage to Adda Quinn, perhaps one of his longest, lasted for seven years. The duo got married in 1967 and got divorced in 1974 reportedly due to disagreements over Ellison lavish spending habits, according to The Sun.
“He was the most charismatic man I had ever met, but our 7 years together was like being on a roller coaster,” Quinn was quoted on Campbell High School website. She subsequently joined Environmental Division of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in Palo Alto as their Business Manager.
Nancy Wheeler Jenkins
The billionaire’s second marriage with Nancy Wheeler Jenkins was blink and miss and couldn’t even last for a year reportedly. The couple met in 1976 and married shortly, before parting ways after just six months in 1978. Jenkins sold back her shares in SDL to Ellison for $500. A Stanford graduate, Jenkins served as a law clerk. According to Pressfarm, the couple shared a deep intellectual bond. However, the pressures of creating a technological empire allowed little space for their marriage.
Barbara Boothe
Ellison’s third marriage was to Barbara Boothe in 1983, a receptionist at Relational Software Inc, which later became Oracle. The former couple became parents to two children – David and Meghan, before parting ways in 1986.
Melanie Craft
Melanie Craft, a romance novelist married Ellison at his Woodside estate. The picturesque wedding was photographed by Ellison’s friend Steve Jobs, former CEO and co-founder of Apple Inc. The marriage lasted for around seven years as the two got divorced in 2010.
Nikita Kahn
Ellison met Ukrainian-American model Nikita Kahn soon after, in 2010. Born as Iryna Osipova, she was 19 at the time of meeting Ellison who was 66, and had moved to California just after completing her studies in Ukraine.
Kahn starred in Catch 44 alongside Bruce Willis was also part of The Last Animals documentary. She was also an interior designer and worked with various wildlife centres and animal rights charities. According to reports, Ellison named his Malibu restaurant after her.
