His sea-facing residence, named Roop Katha, doesn’t just offer uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea, it also reflects the actor’s signature blend of humility but class. We take a look at Pankaj Tripathi’s Mumbai home, that resembles his village in Bihar.

The house, set amid lush green surroundings, reflects the simplicity that defines Tripathi’s on-screen characters. With its regal white facade, pillar-clad architecture, and expansive lawns, Roop Katha is a stark contrast to his modest beginnings in Belsand, Bihar.

All about Pankaj Tripathi’s Madh Island home

Designed with rustic sensibilities and modern ease, Tripathi’s Madh Island home features wide entrances, breezy interiors, and oversized windows that fill the rooms with natural light. The minimalist design evokes warmth and offers panoramic views of the surrounding greenery and ocean in front.

The home’s decor includes several meaningful artefacts, including a one-horned rhinoceros and elephant statue gifted to him by Assam’s Kaziranga National Park.

A central dining area features a handcrafted wooden table and intricately designed chairs from Mysore-based artisans. The kitchen, airy and functional, is anchored by a large window, maintaining the theme of openness throughout the property. The actor, known for his grounded lifestyle, prefers sipping water stored in traditional clay pots rather than using a refrigerator. That’s his quick fix to his summer woes.

The outdoors

The outdoor space is equally charming, maintaining the look and feel of a countryside courtyard. The actor has planted mango and jackfruit trees, along with several other potted plants, offering shade and serenity. There’s a rustic mud chulha (clay stove) that’s placed in the courtyard, where meals are often prepared using age-old techniques passed down through generations.

The interiors

The interiors are adorned with wooden furniture, earthy textures, and handpicked decor elements. The aesthetic leans heavily on craftsmanship from Mysore, further enhancing the home’s authentic and rooted ambiance. There are several indoor plants as well, which contribute to a soothing environment and promotes a strong indoor-outdoor connection.

Tripathi has often spoken about his journey, where he began his journey from a humble home in Patna to this serene retreat in Mumbai. Recalling his early days in theatre, he shared how he and his wife, Mridula, once lived in a cramped apartment during the initial phase of his career.
