R Madhavan, better known as our childhood crush Maddy, is an unstoppable force, not just on screen, but also in real life, when it comes to his health and fitness. In 2024, he made headlines for his weight loss. But there’s a twist to it. It happened in just 21 days, but without any extreme workouts or even going to the gym. Here’s what happened.

In response to his interview with Curly Tales, R.Madhavan tweeted, “Intermittent fasting, heavy chewing of food 45-60 times (drink your food and chew your water)… last meal at 6.45 pm (only cooked food — nothing raw AT ALL post 3 pm)… early morning long walks and early night deep sleep (no screen time 90 min before bed)… plenty of fluids… lots of green vegetables and food that is easily metabolised by your body and healthy. Nothing processed at all.”

Here’s a breakdown of his routine

Intermittent fasting

One of the most important things Madhavan did towards this fitness journey was intermittent fasting. He followed a routine where he wrapped all his meals by sunset. His last meal of the day is typically finished by 6:45 pm, which gives his body a lot of time before bed. He also made it a point to avoid raw foods after 3 pm.

Chewing 45 to 60 times

Madhavan chose to slow down. He revealed that he made a conscious effort to chew each bite anywhere between 45 to 60 times. This not only helped with digestion but also allowed him to feel full sooner, leading to better portion control.

    Morning walks over heavy workouts

While most stars hit the gym for intense workout sessions to lose weight, Madhavan skipped the gym while trying to lose weight. He went for daily morning walks instead of high-impact workouts. This simple but consistent routine helped him stay active without putting strain on his body.

      No screen time before bedtime

Another habit he followed to the t was a strict night-time routine. Madhavan switched off all screens at least 90 minutes before going to bed, allowing his body to unwind naturally. Prioritising restful sleep gave him better hormonal balance and more energy to stick to his daily health practices.

        Staying hydrated and clean eating

Madhavan followed a routine where he watched what went on his plate and into his body. He drank a lot of water throughout the day and focused on eating light, nutritious meals with plenty of greens and whole foods. He eliminated all processed items.

By sticking to natural ingredients and avoiding foods that were hard to digest, he made sure his body wasn’t burdened with toxins or empty calories.
