M. P. Ahammed, an Indian businessman and the head of the Malabar Group of Companies, was born on 1 November 1957. In addition, he founded Malabar Gold & Diamonds, one of the biggest retail jewelry firms in the world. Ahammed was born to Mammad Kutty Hajee and Fathima. He launched his first agro-product firm at the age of 17. He began selling spices and copra in 1981 when he was 24 years old.

He used to deal in cardamom, pepper, and coconuts with the Kozhikode (now Calicut) merchants in Kerala. He soon knew, nevertheless, that his commercial enterprise would not prosper.
After conducting extensive market research, Ahammed discovered that one significant unorganised sector that people were proud of was jewelry. That was all it required. He decided to launch a company in the sector and market his home region of Malabar, mustering all of his confidence.

Currently, the Malabar Group operates 350 showrooms in 9 different nations. The group collaborated with Eham Digitals, a manufacturer of household appliances, and Green Thumb, a firm that sells organic farming supplies.
The designs for the complex of Travancore, which was intended to be a shopping complex of international standards, were started in 2014 by Malabar Developers. It is also the first green mall in India with numerous eco-friendly activities. Oommen Chandy, the former Chief Minister of Kerala, laid the cornerstone for the Mall of Travancore.
