It was not all easy for Alakh Pandey, he witnessed a constrained financial background as a child. To support his family financially, Alakh Pandey gave private tuition to students of various classes, from mid-section to higher secondary. He earned Rs 5000 as his first salary.

Alakh Pandey went to the Bishop Johnson School for his elementary education. He studied Mechanical engineering from the Harcourt Butler Technical Institute (HBTI), in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. However, due to his lack of interest in the teaching style of his faculties at college, Alakh Pandey decided to leave college in his fourth year.
