Chhath Puja 2025 Morning Arghya Time: After four days of devotion and fasting, Chhath Puja will finally conclude on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The four-day festival is celebrated every year after Diwali to express gratitude to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for blessing devotees with health, wealth, and prosperity.
As per the Hindu calendar, Chhath Puja falls on the sixth day (Shashthi Tithi) of the Kartik month’s Shukla Paksha, which usually comes six days after Diwali. The festival spans four days, beginning with Nahay Khay and concluding with the Usha Arghya offered to the rising sun.
While the festival begins with the simple ritual of taking a holy bath on Nahay Khay (October 25), fasting period commences second day onwards on Kharna (October 26) when a day-long vrat from morning to evening is observed, and is concluded with the prasad of Rasiya and roti. Third day onwards (Sandya Arghya), the ‘nirjala fasting’ begins which goes on till the fourth day morning (Usha Arghya).
Origin of Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja is believed to have originated in ancient times. According to a legend, Lord Rama and Sita performed the first Chhath after their return to Ayodhya to seek the Sun God’s blessings for prosperity.
