Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has reportedly sold two adjoining residential units in Mumbai’s Borivali East for a combined total of Rs 7.10 crore. The transactions, registered in June 2025, were documented by the Maharashtra Inspector General of Registration and first reported by property platform Square Yards.
Akshay Kumar sells two properties
The two properties, located within the upscale Sky City development by Oberoi Realty, span a carpet area of 1,353 sq. ft. and were originally purchased by Kumar in 2017. As per the recent sales, the properties have had a massive appreciation in value of close to doubling over an eight-year period.
As per property registration records, the larger of the two apartments measures 1,101 sq. ft. and was sold for Rs 5.75 crore. The apartment included two car parking spaces and involved a stamp duty payment of Rs 34.50 lakh along with a registration fee of Rs 30,000. Kumar had bought the unit for Rs 3.02 crore in 2017.
The second unit is smaller in size at just 252 sq. ft.. However, don’t let the size of the property fool you. It was sold for Rs 1.35 crore and attracted a stamp duty charge of Rs 6.75 lakh and registration fees of Rs 30,000. This property, initially purchased for Rs 67.90 lakh, registered a 99% surge in resale value.
About the residential projects
Sky City, the project in question, is situated in Borivali East. It is well connected through the Western Express Highway, Mumbai suburban railway, and Metro Line 7. It is also close to Sanjay Gandhi National Park and business districts like Goregaon and Malad.
Spread across 25 acres, Oberoi Sky City is a ready-to-occupy gated community featuring a mix of 3BHK apartments, studio units, and duplex homes. According to Square Yards Data Intelligence, the project saw 100 sale registrations amounting to Rs 428 crore between August 2024 and July 2025. The current average resale price in the project stands at Rs 47,800 per sq. ft.
Besides Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have also invested in multiple units within the same development since May 2024, as per reports.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar was most recently seen in Kesari 2 which released earlier this year. In his career spanning more than three decades, he has been honoured with the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2017 for Rustom and has received multiple Filmfare Awards for performances in films such as Airlift and Kesari. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, for his contributions to cinema.
