Bollywood actor Jaaved Jaaferi is one of the industry’s most enduring comedic actors. His longevity as an artist can be attributed to his sparkling personality and talent but also his dashing good looks which he has managed to maintain. Despite being 62 years old, the star does not look a day over 40 and this can be attributed to his lifestyle choices.

Recently, Jaaferi opened up about his ‘reverse ageing’ lifestyle which has kept him healthy, mobile and looking younger than his years in an interview to Curlytales. Let us explore what he eats and what lifestyle he follows that makes him look ageless.

The secret to Jaaved Jaaferi’s eternal youth

He appeared for the interview accompanied by his son, actor Meezan Jafri who revealed that the 62-year-old never eats out and always prefers home cooked food. Upon being prompted for details into his diet, Jaaferi revealed that he starts his day with a glass of warm water which kickstarts the metabolism and helps to rehydrate the body after waking up.

Post this, he eats a bowl of freshly cut fruits in a colourful, nutrient-rich mix. Papayas, apples, blueberries, avocados and bananas are the actor’s go-to choices, providing a host of benefits such as vitamins A, C, E and K, healthy fats, fibre, potassium, antioxidants for anti-ageing, B vitamins and folate. After a short break, he consumes four eggs to meet his protein requirements, followed by dry fruits like walnuts and almonds, which he soaks the previous night. Together, this makes up his breakfast.

It is worth noting that the actor consumes no carbohydrates in his breakfast. When asked about this, he mentioned that he occasionally prefers a slice of bread, but if he eats his eggs fried, he opts for one or two nachni rotis instead. For the unversed, nachni roti is made from ragi, or finger millet—an excellent source of dietary fibre with a low glycaemic index that helps with diabetes management. It is also rich in calcium, which supports bone strength—an important factor to consider with the onset of ageing.

The actor revealed that he generally skips lunch because his high-volume, “reverse ageing” breakfast keeps him full for most of the day. If he does eat anything, he prefers a simple salad—another excellent source of vitamins and fibre. His son Meezan added that the actor’s lifelong dedication to dance and physical activity, along with healthy habits like avoiding alcohol and smoking, has benefitted him immensely and contributed to his remarkable youthfulness.

The benefits of a low-carb, nutrient-dense and fibre-rich diet

According to studies by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, diets that prioritise whole foods rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre – while limiting refined carbohydrates – support healthier blood-sugar regulation and improve metabolic function. High-fibre foods slow glucose absorption, reduce insulin spikes and help maintain satiety, which collectively contribute to healthier weight management and a lower long-term risk of type 2 diabetes.

Furthermore, research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Heart Association (AHA) shows that a fibre-rich, nutrient-dense diet supports cardiovascular health by lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol and reducing inflammation in the body. Antioxidants from fruits and healthy fats help counter oxidative stress, while adequate protein and micronutrients promote better bone, muscle and cellular repair – all essential components for healthy ageing and overall longevity.
