‘Friends’ famous actor Matthew Perry passed away tragically on October 28, 2023. The fans and his loved ones were left heartbroken. Soon after Perry’s demise, it was said that his death would require ‘additional investigation’ before his medical record could be concluded.

According to media reports, the ‘Friends’ actor Matthew Perry did not die a death caused by meth or fentanyl overdose.

Initial toxicology report was cited and it was said that the 54-year-old did not have fentanyl or methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death. 

The media reports also mentioned that it is yet to be determined if other prescription medication played a role in Perry’s death.

The reports came a day after the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said an autopsy on Mr Perry’s body was complete, however the exact cause of Perry’s death will require a detailed toxicology report that can take weeks.

It is said that at the time of his demise, Matthew Perry was “sober and active in the AA program.”

Marta Kauffman, the creator of the iconic comedy series ‘Friends’, confirmed that Matthew was in good spirit during a recent conversation over the phone.

Kauffman has said that he “didn’t seem weighed down by anything”. To her, Perry seemed to be in a really good place “which is why this seems so unfair”.

Matthew Perry was found in an unresponsive state at his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles. He was believed to have drowned as he was declared dead when he was taken to hospital.

In the popular NBC comedy series that ran for 10 years, Perry played the role of Chandler Bing who was socially awkward but very much likable. His character would use a lot of sarcasm to get by in life. Other characters were Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox, Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston, Ross Geller played by David Schwimmer, and Joey Tribbianni played by Matt LeBlanc.

The cast had issued a joint statement two days after Matthew’s demise. They had become a family over the years. A year ago, Matthew had published his memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing’. He talked about his struggle with alcoholism and drug addiction in his memoir. In an interview two decades ago, Jennifer Aniston broke down on the thought of losing him.
