The death of ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry left everyone in shock and grief. After the untimely demise of the ‘Fools Rush In’ actor, his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer paid heart-felt tributes. Releasing a joint statement, the Friends cast said that the sudden demise of their co-star has left them devastated.

According to a report in People Magazine, in their joint statement the cast said, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we are going to take a moment to grieve and process his unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world,” the statement read.

The NBC comedy series that aired for ten years starting from 1994 to 2004 won hearts of many across the globe and generations. Matthew Perry played the role of Chandler Bing alongside Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller who was his wife, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc played Joey Tribbiani who was Chandler’s roommate and best friend and David Schwimmer who played Ross Geller (Monica’s Brother).

The cast who were grief-stricken involved not only the five co-stars but also his on-screen off and on girlfriend Maggie Wheeler. She played the role of Janice and she took to her social media account to express herself. She shared a picture with Matthew which was taken on the sets of Friends and the caption read, “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared. ♥️.”

Chandler’s mother, actor Morgan Fairchild also posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote, “I am heartbroken about the untimely death of my “son”, Matthew Perry. The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I am sending love and condolences to his friends and family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road and Falcon Crest. #RIPMatthew.”

‘Friends’ creators Marta Kauffman, David Crane, and producer Kevin Bright expressed deep sorrow over Mr. Perry’s death, praising his exceptional talent. They shared, “We are shocked and deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. He was a brilliant talent. From the moment he embodied the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us. He brought joy, intelligence, and humor to every moment, both on set and in life. He was not just the funniest, but also the kindest, with a generous and selfless heart.”

Matthew Perry passed away at the age of 54 on October 28, 2023 at his residence in Los Angeles. He was found in an unconscious state in the hot tub at his residence and was taken to hospital soon after where he was pronounced dead.
