What is the show Karma about?

The K-drama, starring Shin Min-ah and created by Lee II Hyung, follows the life of Kim Beom-Jun, played by Park Hae-Soo. He plays a murderer who survives a dangerous fire and impersonates another man to escape from the police. But destiny has other plans for him. His previous deeds catch up with him in the most horrendous ways.

The show revolves around six individuals entangled through a karmic bond. One is a debtor chased by creditors, another is a physician troubled by his traumatic childhood memories, the third one loses his job unfairly. The fourth one witnessed an accident, and the last two are a couple—a successful clinic owner and his girlfriend. The unavoidable fate connects their lives together to face the consequences of their actions.

Lead actor Park Hae Soo told the press that the interesting and mind-wrecking storyline attracted him towards the role. He said during a press conference, “What drew me the most was how extreme and intense the story was while maintaining a single, cohesive flow. I was captivated by the narrative and appreciated the twists and structure. My character, though selfish and detestable, also had a foolish and comical side, which made it an interesting role to portray.”

How did Karma season 1 end? (Spoilers ahead)

In the concluding episode of the K-drama Karma, Ju-Yeon, played by Shin Min-ah, spares Kim Beom-Jun (Park Hae-Soo). However, later he got caught by loan sharks who mistook him for Park Jae-Yeong (role played by Lee Hee-Joon). Further, Beom-Jun finds himself in front of Ju-Yeon’s boyfriend, Yun Jeong-min (Kim Nam-gil), a doctor who performs illegal surgeries for loan sharks to remove illegal organs from people who fail to repay the money.

Beom-jun hastily reveals that he is not Jae-yeong, in order to save his life. Although Jeong-min doesn’t believe him, he remains adamant about bringing justice to Ju-Yeon. Ju-Yeon was sexually assaulted by Jae-Yeong in school. Thus, ignoring Beom-Jun’s plea for life, Jeong-min continues to operate, ultimately killing Beom-jun.
