Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues to perform well at the box office as it enters its third weekend, keeping trade circles focused on whether it can overtake Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller released on December 5 and has shown steady momentum across markets.
After 16 days in theatres, Dhurandhar has collected around Rs 785 crore worldwide. The film has managed to stay on track despite increased competition from international releases, most notably Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Dhurandhar’s domestic collections cross Rs 500 crore mark
On the domestic front, Dhurandhar recorded a strong jump during its third weekend. The film earned Rs 483 crore net in its first 15 days and saw nearly a 50 per cent rise in collections on its third Saturday compared to Friday. This pushed its total domestic net collection to Rs 516.50 crore, while the gross figure reached Rs 619.75 crore.
With this milestone, Dhurandhar became the seventh Hindi film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in India. It achieved this milestone faster than major releases such as Jawan and Stree 2.
Overseas business slows but remains steady for Dhurandhar
Internationally, the film faced pressure during its third weekend due to the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which dominated overseas screens. As a result, growth slowed after a promising second week. Despite this, Dhurandhar has managed to collect approximately $18.5 million gross from international markets so far, contributing significantly to its overall tally.
Trade experts believe that if Dhurandhar keeps its pace then it may become the highest grosser of 2025. The film is being appreciated not just for the plot but also due to strong performances by Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal.
Can it beat Kantara Chapter 1?
At present, Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 remains the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, with a worldwide collection of around Rs 852 crore. The prequel to Rishab Shetty’s 2022 hit earned over Rs 600 crore from its Indian audience.
With a gap of about Rs 65–70 crore, Dhurandhar is still within reach of the top spot. Its performance over the coming weekdays and the fourth weekend will be most important in deciding whether it can surpass Kantara Chapter 1 or not.
