George Clooney’s sister passes away at 65: Hollywood actor George Clooney‘s sister, Adelia ‘Ada’ Zeidler, passed away at the age of 65, succumbing to cancer. Reacting to the unfortunate news, the Ocean’s 11 actor told People, “My sister, Ada, was my hero. She faced cancer with courage and humour. I’ve never met anyone so brave.” He added, “Amal and I will miss her terribly.”

She passed away after a long battle at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Kentucky. Surrounded by her loved ones, Zeidler is survived by her parents Nick and Nina Bruce Clooney, her children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler with her husband, Kenny. George and Amal Clooney also mourn this loss to their family. She was preceded by the death of her husband, Norman Zeidler, who passed away in 2004.

Who was Adelia ‘Ada’ Zeidler?

Born in Los Angeles on May 2, 1960, Adelia ‘Ada’ Zeidler was a National Merit Scholar. She attended college in Louisville and Northern Kentucky. Ada then worked as an elementary art teacher and bookkeeper. She was also a part of the Augusta Art Guild and served as grand marshal of the Annual White Christmas Parade. Keeping a grounded life away from the Hollywood life, Ada married retired US Army Captain Norman Zeidler in 1987 in Australia. They went on to have two children, Nick and Allison.

She always maintained close ties with Hollywood hotshot brother George Clooney. In 2014, she was seen at her younger brother’s lavish Venetian wedding. From old photos, Ada was seen sitting alongside several Hollywood actors, as she sported an elegant silver-beaded dress with sheer sleeves. In her previous interaction with the media in 2012, she told New York Daily News that she was protective enough not to have her brother’s phone number, given how she may lose it. “He can phone me, and he does occasionally, but email is more convenient for both of us,” she shared.

The specific details about her cancer diagnosis have not been made public. But the obituary confirmed the cause of her peaceful passing.
